Disaster Response Robot

“First Japanese robot employed at Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant”

The first Japanese robot employed at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant was from CIT. We started right after the incident and have improved our robots through communication with local workers at the plant. We have developed everything: radiation resistance, heat and shock resistance, ability to climb a gradient over 60 degrees, a robot manipulation training site for local workers, training manuals, operator training programs, and more. It has been collecting data in the reactor buildings inaccessible to humans and helping the task of decommissioning the reactors.
